Die tweede semester vakke is saamgestel vir die SIPS studente wat gevorderde tegnieke in ‘n vak (of tot drie vakke) gaan spesialiseer. Alhoewel buite-studente ook aanvaar sal word, is dit onderhewig aan sy basiese kennis van die vak, of sal so ‘n buite studente eers ‘n inleidende kursus moet doen. Die SIPS tweede semester vakke is prakties georienteerd en bied die student die geleentheid om vak ondervinding op te doen, en om ‘n professionele portefeulje in die vak op te bou.
Klasse word in Afrikaans en/of Engels aangebied. Klastye sal tussen 9h00 -15h00 wees, behalwe vir party praktiese projekte wat na-uur mag geskied.
Photography
Prerequisites: Photographic literacy or the first semester photography course completed successfully or the Distance training Photography course presented by us.
Moving towards the second semester the student will learn more advanced specialized techniques that will prove the student a truly professional photographer. The student will attend workshops from the best of the best photographers in the Western-Cape and will visit highly equipped studios in Cape Town for training.
You will complete workshops in:
Documentary photography, Advertising photography, Food photography, Industrial photography, Wine photography, Commercial photography, High speed photography, Meduim format Photography, Landscape photography, Art photography, Fashion photography, Photographic make-up and hair, quick styling, Theatre photography, Photo studio management and Portfolios
Practical Projects:
You will also have to complete a thesis of every workshop attended and most workshops will have a theoretical lecture or an oral that will be presented by each student. Your portfolio will consist of the above workshops and you will also work in a one hour lab for one week to gain practical experience of lab management. Black and white darkroom work will also be compulsory. Through this course you will find yourself taking enjoyment in developing a personal style of your own. At the end of this one-year course you will have a professional portfolio that will make it possible to find related work anywhere in the world. Always wanted to see the world? Now you can and earn vital experience and money while traveling as most of our students find jobs as photographer on the popular cruise liners in the Caribbean Islands.

Practical Projects: You will manipulate your own photographs from the first semester. Design your website and learn in depth Adobe Illistrator as a graphic design program wilh many designs for your portfolio. |
3. Video production
Video production is a form of art just like photography, you need to have the passion and creativity to complete this subject to your fullest advantage. You will do the advanced theory on producing and directing and will work with the rest of the group to produce a thriller and also your own short movie.
Syllabus:
Opening lecture: What is film and Why do we Make Films?
David Mamet, Character, Initial concept and the 3 Act structure.
Demographics, who are you making films for?
Practical: Bring concept. The Screenplay format; character and dialogue.
Story, genre, Plot Points. Casting, Practical: Character sketches.
Practical: Casting. Face testing. Actor – Director relationship.
Screenplay from: Identifying and fixing Problems of Plot, Character and Structure. Scheduling. Scouting.
Practical: Locations. Action – Reaction. Voice for the camera. Drone notes.
Emotions. Intent, icons and fine Beat work.
Beginnings and endings. Basic Storyboarding. Continuity.
Practical: Final draft of script. The shot, Scene and Sequence. The Set-up.
The shot-by shot Storyboard and shot lists.
Practical: Finalized storyboards. Working through shot lists.
Music Videos, Introduction, initial concept and the business aspects.
Practical: Concepts for music video’s, Dry Run of Soaps.
Shooting of soaps (Strict Schedule: NO OVERTIME!!!!!!)
Included will be various modules of film / soap, and music video’s
Theory: 2 hours per week.
Workshop or Practical: 1/2 day per week
Practical assignments and editing for the rest of the week.
